Fully automated production process

For this application within the plastics industry we developed a complete automation solution that works seamlessly with an injection moulding machine. The installation supports the production process of two different end products and automates the full handling of the required inserts: from supply and positioning to extraction and discharge of the end product.

Insert handling from supply to mould

Within the installation three different types of inserts are processed. Two of these are automatically supplied via vision-guided vibratory bowl feeders. The third type is picked directly from trays, with the supply and discharge of these trays also fully automated.

A FANUC SCARA robot, equipped with a custom-developed EOAT/gripper by ZEST-Innovate, picks up the inserts and positions them with high precision. Once all inserts are correctly in place, the injection moulding machine's robot takes over and places them into the mould.

Custom grippers for each end product

For this robot we also developed the required EOAT/grippers fully custom: one for each end product. These grippers are designed not only to extract the inserts from the mould, but also to automatically place the end product onto the conveyor belt.

The result: one integrated automation solution in which supply, handling, positioning, product extraction and discharge connect seamlessly. Developed for an efficient and reliable injection moulding process.
