Lead Electrical Engineer freelance or secondment

Our projects are challenging, innovative, and highly diverse.

For a project in the High Tech Industry involving complex mechatronics systems, we are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer.

At ZEST-Innovate, you won’t be working in a large hierarchical organization, but in a close-knit team where everyone knows each other and truly makes a difference together. As an Electrical Lead Engineer, you are the central link within a compact and dedicated team. You maintain oversight, drive quality, and help colleagues make the most of their strengths. Together, you work on high-tech projects at the intersection of electrical engineering and mechatronics, enabling your small team to create a big impact.

Our projects are challenging, innovative, and highly diverse. For a project in the high-tech industry involving complex mechatronic systems, we are looking for an Electrical Lead Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and translating the electrical architecture: Translating and verifying specifications into component selection and layout, both on a high-level and detailed level. You make practical, quick, clear, and traceable decisions based on experience. This hands-on mentality is essential to meet the typically demanding timelines of these projects.

  • Designing electrical modules and systems: You act as the link between specifications and detailed execution and verification (including essential power, thermal management, and leakage current calculations), which you perform together with the team. This applies to various high-tech modules within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Executing, leading, and coaching the electrical and mechatronics team: The electrical team within the high-tech domain is still young, requiring coaching and guidance from an experienced high-tech engineer. This includes supporting the creation of electrical schematics (in E-plan), reviewing them, and checking realization against design requirements and quality standards. You also maintain a broad perspective across domains and serve as the primary point of contact for the electrical discipline within the multidisciplinary team (both internally and with external stakeholders).

  • Documentation and project handover: You prepare the required electrical documentation and ensure smooth project handovers, providing feedback to fellow engineers where necessary to improve the design.

What do we ask?

  • At least 10 years of (hardware) experience in the high-tech industry
  • A hands-on mentality: from decision to immediate execution
  • Strong sense of responsibility - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Extensive experience with E-plan
  • Leadership and initiative
  • Team player
  • Clear communication skills

What do we offer

  • A challenging temporary assignment (six months) with plenty of room for initiative
  • Flexible working hours (3–5 days per week)
  • Significant responsibility within a small, informal team
  • A pleasant working environment with good accessibility
